 Binders Cane Weave

Binders cane is used on porch rockers, rockers, and on more rustic chairs. It is a cane product approximately 1/4" in width with a hard curved surface. There are two patterns most often used, the basket weave and herring bone pattern.

There are other more involved patterns. These patterns normally cost more to weave.  Binders cane comes in different widths and it costs more to weave a narrower binders cane than a wider binders cane.

Splint Work

Splint is a flat cane product that comes in different widths up to about an inch wide. It is woven in the same type patterns as binder’s cane, that is either a herring bone or basket weave.  It is used on more outdoor or rustic furniture.

Shaker Tape

Shaker tape is a cotton fabric that comes in a multitude of colors and widths up to 1" wide. Traditionally wrapped on original Shaker chairs in either a basket weave or twill pattern.  Normally two color combinations would be used.

Shaker tape is a long lasting product but it will fade with time.
